JULINGTON CREEK PLANTATION SCHOOLS CONTINUE TO STAND OUT FROM THE REST
The saying "it takes a village" couldn't be more true when it comes to raising our children and encouraging their successes while in school. I am a true believer as parents we must work as a team with our children's teachers and school administrators to ensure they are receiving the best education possible. It is an added bonus when those teaching and/or engaging with our students prove to be exceptional in their own right.
On November 17, 2010, the Florida Board of Education announced the three state-wide finalists for Outstanding Assistant Principal. Of the many hundreds of assistant principals, Julington Creek Plantation's very own Fruit Cove Middle School's Emily Harrison was nominated as one of the three finalist. Mrs. Harrison and the other two nominees will attend a special ceremony in January to hear who has won the designation of 2010 Outstanding Assistant Principal.
Per the Florida Department of Education, "the Outstanding Assistant Principal Achievement Award was established in 1997 to recognize exemplary assistant principals for their contributions to their schools and communities. The program honors assistant principals that have utilized teamwork and leadership skills to increase student performance, promote safe learning environments and establish partnerships with parents and community members."
This is quite an achievement and I think past, current and future students as well as parents of Fruit Cove Middle School students should feel incredibly fortunate to have such an awesome honor bestowed upon one of their own villagers!!!
The recognition of Mrs. Harrison further supports why the St. Johns County School District and Julington Creek Plantation schools continue to stand out from the rest!!!
